5 Habits to Add To Your Morning Routine

We all wish we had more time in our days and make the days last longer. A key to make the most of your day is by increasing your productivity. Time is the most valuable thing to us, we aren’t guaranteed it and we want to make the most of it.

I have become the biggest proponent for being productive and efficient with your time as I’ve gotten old. Life gets busier and you have less time for yourself.

I suggest finding a time in your day when you’re at peak and when you can dedicate increasing your productivity with your time. For me it’s my mornings, so I’m giving a little insight to my morning routine and the tips and tricks I implement efficiency.

#1 - Keep your phone away from you for the first 30 min-1 hour

It’s so important to wake up and not immediately spike your cortisol or begin serving others. Your day has just begun and it’s important to give yourself the time to spend on yourself before serving others throughout the day.

I highly suggest keeping your phone away and untouched for the first 30 minutes or hour of your day. Serve yourself before serving others.

#2 - Meditation

We have so much stimulation in our life and it’s almost impossible to stop our minds. Meditating for even 5 minutes in your morning can balance, calm and regroup your mind before a chaotic and busy day.

There are so many apps, courses, playlists and guided meditations available so there’s no excuse to say you “don’t know how” or “have enough time” because I can guarantee you have 5 minutes in your day for you. Try meditating for 5 days in a row and see how grounded you feel.

#3 - Morning breathing

This was something I found in the last 6 months and can significantly feel the difference in my mind, brain, body and day. I follow the Whimhoff breathing method which is a great way to increase oxygen to your brain and you will begin to the feel affects right away. Here are the steps below:

  1. Take 30 deep breaths in your noise and out your mouth.

  2. Take a big breath in

  3. Breath out and hold your breath and be still

  4. Time yourself on a stopwatch and you will be able to hold your breath for sometimes 1-3 minutes

  5. Repeat this 3-5x

#4 - Read

This is also a personal preference but sometimes taking 20 minutes out of your morning and day and opening a book can help get your mind lost and get out of your brain before starting your day.

#5 - Morning Affirmations

Write out 10 affirmations and write them on a piece of paper. Tape this to your bathroom mirror and every morning when you brush your teeth repeat these to yourself.
