This is a topic that you may not see everyone talking about, creating a mindset for yourself to create the life you want. The importance of your mindset will play into your day-to-day, relationships, the way others perceive you, friendships and your overall joy towards life. It’s one of the most important factors that people aren’t even talking about.

I split this topic into three parts. Each blog will share the small steps that you can practice daily that will begin to change your mindset. You will begin to change your reality without even knowing it. You have the power of all the positivity or negativity in your life and how much of it is prevalent.

Change Your Damn Perspective

This. I can’t say more about this. The biggest tip I can give someone which is also the most impactful reminder that I continuously practice in my life. Tip: Change the way you talk about yourself, your life and others, this will begin to change your mindset.

For example. a lot of us have will have to work in our lives, it’s the reality of life. We need money to live and to do the fun things that make life so great. That being said, there are two types of people who dread the work week versus max out their days every. single. day.

I’m not saying it’s always going to be like this all the time, you will get tired, broken down, have hard times and stressful moments. But these daily practices will be what brings you up from these triumphs. The way you speak to yourself day after day about your life will be what gets you through these times.

Become the person excited and grateful for the career, job, to-do list and things you must get done that day. Don’t be the person that dreads Monday’s or need something to look forward to. Create your days and life that you can look forward to.

If the power of your words had such a big effect on your life and you knew it, would you change them?

Here are some examples of where small changes make big impacts:

  • "Ugh, I have to go to work today” changed to “I get to go to work today, I used to dream of the moment I had an internship/full-time job/my own money/etc.”

  • “I’m dreading the gym today, I’m so tired” changed to “I’m so lucky I have the opportunity to move my body today. I know others aren’t as lucky as I am to do so.”

  • “My friends didn’t invite me to go out with them” changed to “I wish I would’ve gotten an invite but the people that are in my tribe will include me and I need to focus my energy into finding my tribe of people to have in my life.

  • “So many bad things just keep happening to me over and over” changed to “Life hasn’t been the easiest lately but I’m handling things one by one and they will pass and things will improve. I have the power to change the positive and negative perspectives in my life”

Do you see what a small change can do? Now practice this every day in your life. When you catch yourself speaking negativity into existence, change it. You have this control.

Express Your Gratitude

We have so much in our life to be grateful for. If you have food, shelter and a roof over your head you are already so blessed compared to so many others in the world. But to be real, sometimes our small problems feel bigger than this. Whether it’s a bad job, a hard class, a break-up, family issues or your own personal battles - we all have them.

The importance of expressing gratitude every day is because you are not guaranteed to express it tomorrow. This is one of my biggest reminders in life, for how grateful I am to have a family, friends, home, hobby, food and so much more that keeps me alive in my soul and every day. Knowing none of it is promised helps you learn to start living life larger, more and better.

If you need a simple reminder, begin your day by writing 5 things you’re grateful for. Express your gratitude and share it with others.

I wake up on days feeling so full inside. My heart is beaming for the individuals, experiences and opportunities I have in my life. I could wake up dwelling on all the things that didn’t work out for me but when you trust the universe and your time for things, you will learn that being grateful for what you have in this moment is the most fulfilling thing.

Here are a few examples of what I say to myself every day.

  • “I used to dream of where I am today to live in a state I love, have a full-time job, bills of my own and a life I can create for myself.” versus “Living on your own is so expensive, bills pile up and working 45 hours a week is exhausting. Sometimes I feel alone being in a state I have no long-term connections.”

  • "Life has so many opportunities and individuals that will cross your path and I’m so lucky I get to experience them on my own timeline that serves me.” versus “I didn’t get this job offer or my ex and I broke up after so many years together.”

  • “This has been a big learning curve for me. I have been tested in many different areas of my life like career changes, financial feats, personal growth, physical exhaustion and relationships. I express gratitude for how much I’m learning about myself and how these experiences will serve me in the future. Big things are coming my way.” versus “There have been one negative thing after another thrown my way and these past few months have been testing my limits. I almost gave up a few times and resorted back to the easier ways.”
